I then taught myself how to color characters in Photoshop and did all that work, not the greatest but many artists have complimented the work, though it does come out a little comic bookish. I did eventually commission another artist to color the characters better, but he got too busy and couldn't help me. That would have cost me another $100. Then, since I am an engineer by trade, I modeled the fighter craft from the book and rendered them, photoshopping as required to make the textures and clean up any photoshop errors. The background is a free NASA image as I just couldn't make a good looking spiral galaxy. The logo was another creation of my own, using visio, but another artist friend helped me bring it to life an recommended a better font then the one I created. The result has met with overall positive results.
http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk300/Spiral-War/ON-Daggers-Wings-Final-3.png

My friend Kevin used dreamstime, a subscription service, to gather stock images he used for his book and short story covers.
Overall it really depends on how much work you want to do to make a quality cover or how much you want to pay.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00722689964397381603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7040486715126429420.post-52408725794015969142014-07-22T09:15:13.986-05:002014-07-22T09:15:13.986-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.SF Edwardshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15267726963958454958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7040486715126429420.post-85510705625374593592014-07-21T03:36:40.974-05:002014-07-21T03:36:40.974-05:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7040486715126429420.post-80149973533689491852014-07-20T19:12:46.789-05:002014-07-20T19:12:46.789-05:00Excellent point!!!
